The South African mining industry grapples with challenges like cyclical demand, infrastructure decay, and inefficiencies, leading to crisis-mode management. Issues include port congestion, criminal activity, illegal mining, rising employment costs, and bureaucratic delays.
Despite Africa's mineral wealth, countries struggle to harness demand for battery minerals during the global shift to renewable energy. South Africa faces additional hurdles, including political uncertainties. While lithium prices decline, there is a heightened demand for platinum group metals (PGMs) for various applications, offering optimism amid challenges.
DGC's strategy involves adapting to industry changes, focusing on diversification to expand its sought-after products and services.

Celebrating the completion of 431 projects, including 17 major undertakings, underscores our steadfast dedication to project management excellence. It highlights our ability to surpass client expectations through organizational efficiency, innovation, and a commitment to quality. This success is greatly attributed to our enduring partnerships with existing customers.
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
DGC attributes part of its success to initiatives recognizing outstanding employee performance and loyalty. We would like to highlight the recent December 2023 awards ceremony, including accolades for the Best Safety Performers in the Demolition Division and the individual Best Safety Performer, Mr. Cornelis Ehlers. Additionally, we celebrated Long Service Awards, ranging from 30 to 5 years, with a cumulative total of 2437 years of combined employee service, marking a significant milestone.
UPCOMING EVENTS / CONFERENCES
DGC intends to participate in seven MTE Events from April to October 2024 and a five-day exhibition at Electra Mining in September 2024.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
The achievements we attain are closely linked to our proficient workforce, prompting us to engage in ongoing improvement initiatives and enhance the skills of our employees through both in-house workshop training and external career development programs. We have identified a total of 32 distinct training programs.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In 2023, active engagement in corporate social responsibility included donating 1000 school shoes and sponsoring community sports in collaboration with Emfuleni Local Municipality and Gauteng Sport and Recreational Department. Initiatives for the new year include a pothole project in Vereeniging CBD, scheduled to start in the second quarter.
