We recently completed a project for a major mining company in the DRC involving our catalyst handling services. The project involved screening and reloading the sulphuric acid converter for the company, which has a capacity of 110400 litres of vanadium pentoxide catalyst.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project was initially scheduled to start on July 9th, 2023, but due to logistical challenges, the equipment arrived late and the site establishment was completed on July 19th. Despite the delay, DGC’s professionalism and state-of-the-art equipment resulted in an efficient lead time gain of 3.5 days on the expected duration of work. The project was completed on July 28th, 2023, within the allocated time frame.
THE PROJECT CONSISTED OF TWO MAIN PHASES: SCREENING & RELOADING
The Screening Phase
Took 5 days and involved separating the reusable catalyst from the spent catalyst.
The Reloading Phase
Took 4 days and involved loading the converter with new XPE 110 catalysts and the reusable catalyst. The total amount of new XPE 110 catalysts used was 21200 litres, while the remaining 101600 litres (80.8%) of reusable catalyst was salvaged and reloaded into the converter successfully.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
The project was successfully completed with a full duration of 300 hours of zero-harm, incident-free work. Our team completed the work in a professional and timely manner with safety and customer satisfaction as our key focus.
The project demonstrated our expertise and experience in catalyst handling services, as well as its ability to overcome challenges and deliver exceptional results.
