We were recently tasked with the complete demolition of solidified iron within a torpedo ladle. In this case, the iron had to be cut into blocks before removing the refractory material to a scrap yard. Although relatively straightforward, the project posed a number of challenges.
Firstly from an environmental point of view, no fumes were allowed to escape the torpedo into the surrounding areas. This meant having to work with heavy material and lancing equipment with a fume extraction system, all within a restricted space, in order to prevent the fumes from leaking into the open air. In addition to this thermal lancing was only allowed to be done at night.
DGC faced all the challenges head-on and in doing so mitigated all potential risks whereby no accidents or injuries took place. Thanks to DGC's professionalism and efficiency we were able to complete the project on time (within 3 weeks) and within budget.
